What is the time limit to report a change of address?

You must report a change of address within 30 working days. Report the change only after it has taken place. You must report the new address only if you are going to stay at the new address for more than 180 days.

You can report a change of address personally at a Ministry of the Interior office, send it by post, Data Box or by e-mail with an advanced electronic signature, or you can submit it through an authorised representative.

STEPS TO FOLLOW IN ORDER TO REPORT A CHANGE OF ADDRESS:

1. Prepare the necessary documents

In order to report the change you will need:

2. Fill in the form for notification of changes

You can fill in the form online. Then print out the filled-in form and sign it.

You can also download a blank form, print it out and fill it in by hand, or you can collect the form free of charge at one of the offices of the Ministry of the Interior. The form must be filled in legibly, in block capitals and in Latin characters.

3. Send the form or make an appointment at a Ministry of the Interior office

You can report the change at a Ministry of the Interior office, send it by post, Data Box or by e-mail with an advanced electronic signature, or you can submit it through an authorised representative.

For procedural reasons, you must always go personally to a Ministry of the Interior office. So you can report the change in person and it will be made right away (you will receive a new registration certificate). In this case, please make an appointment online or by phone beforehand. Although a timely appointment reservation saves your time, it is not a necessary condition for submitting the application – with no appointment reservation you have to wait your turn.

If you want to report the change by post, you can check whether it has been made on our hotline. In this case, it is recommended to call the hotline no sooner than a week after the form was sent as it takes a few days to process the incoming post. On the hotline, you will schedule an appointment to come and collect your new registration certificate.

4. Go to a Ministry of the Interior office

Come to a Ministry of the Interior office to get your new address recorded in your registration certificate. Your document must contain up-to-date data.

All holders of a temporary residence permit who are EU citizens’ family members must report a change of their address. If you are a family member of a citizen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland under the Brexit withdrawal agreement, the same conditions apply to you.

4. Come to have your biometric data taken 

Come to your appointment to have your biometric data taken and take your travel document with you. At your appointment, you will be told when to come and collect your new card.

5. Collect your document (biometric card)

The last step is to collect your residence permit document or permanent residence card (biometric card). The time limit for collection is 60 days from the date you had your biometric data taken.
