The Purpose of Residence
The Foreigners Act, dealing with the residence of foreigners in the Czech Republic, assumes that residence of all foreigners, except in the case of permanent residence, must be substantiated by a purpose. That is why, when filing many of the applications for a residence permit, it is obligatory to submit a document proving the purpose of residence.
The purpose means any activity, which the foreigner carries on in the Czech Republic. This can be study, employment, business or cohabitation with other persons, etc.
Failure to fulfill the purpose of residence is usually a reason for abolishing the residence permit, and can lead to a rejection of an application for its extension.
