Applying in Person
Residence permit applications for the approval of residence in the Czech Republic must be submitted only in person1.
In general, it applies to the following applications:
Third-country Nationals:
- Long-term visa
- Extension of a long-term visa for the purpose of protection
- Long-term residence permit
- Long-term residence permit for another purpose (change of purpose)
- Long-term residence permit
EU-citizens and their family members:
- Temporary residence permit of an EU-citizen’s family member
- Permanent residence permit of an EU-citizen’s family member
- Permanent residence permit of an EU-citizen
Applications for these types of residence permits are usually submitted at the offices of the Department of Asylum nad Immigration Policy of the Ministry of the Interior. In case of applying for a a long-term visa, a long-term residence permit or a permanent residence permit, you can apply for these at the Czech Republic’s diplomatic missions abroad.
Unless you do not fulfil the condition of appearing in person to submit your application, the proceedings will not be started.
If the applicant is younger than 15 years of age, the application must be submitted by his/her legal representative (normally a parent).
